Silicone is a synthetic polymer. Its molecular structure is distinctive. The molecules are comprised of silicone atoms which are bonded to each other via oxygen atoms. This combination of a typically inorganic structure and organic components makes silicone a unique type of material the special characteristics of which cannot be achieved by any other plastic.
Silicones can be subdivided into different groups. While silicone oils and resins are, for instance, used to produce paints, silicone rubbers are used for endless belts. They are used in both wet and dry areas and can – in combination with the right carcass – be used in extreme cold, down to -50°C, and extreme heat, up to +300°C.
Silicones are very well suited for direct contact with food and for hygiene applications since they are recognized as physiologically safe. The latter fact is underlined by the increased use of silicone in cooking utensils. Another characteristic to be highlighted for the material’s use as belt coating is its toughness which results in very good abrasion resistance while offering a high friction coefficient. Silicones have good chemical stability, are UV-resistant, and do not become brittle.

THE UNIVERSAL CONVEYOR BELT WITH SILICONE
Beim Silikonband S-5108 kommt als Trägermaterial Baumwolle zum Einsatz, was einen geringen Reibwert ermöglicht, der das Band ideal für den Einsatz mit starren Messerkanten macht. THE POWERFU L CONVEYOR BELT WITH SILICONE
With its low friction coefficient on the textile side thanks to its cotton content, the S-5115 is the stronger version of the S-5108. The fact that the belt bends slightly less readily gives it more power and force as well as high tensile strength. It is optimally suited for slider beds. Thanks to its silicone coating, it also has very good resistance against oil, grease, and chemicals.

THE FLEXIBLE ARAMID BELT WITH SILICONE
Aramid fibers are characterized by high strength and high elongation at break, making the S-5150 a powerful drive and conveyor belt. It is well suited for high temperatures and is resistant to oil, grease, and chemicals. It is low-stretch but thin, flexible, and bends readily, which makes it suitable for applications with knife edges.

THE POWER BELT WITH SILICONE
The S-5155 is the stronger version of the S-5150 and is also based on an aramid carcass. It is suitable for temperatures of up to +240 °C, is highly tear resistant and is very low-stretch. Its good resistance to oil, grease, and chemicals makes it a powerful conveyor belt with a high friction coefficient and a broad range of possible applications.
